ABOUT THE WORKING CLINIC
The Working Clinic, powered by Visio Health and Technical Solutions, Inc., brings innovative, accessible, and affordable primary healthcare directly to employees where they work. Using a disruptive approach that partners US primary care doctors with advanced medical diagnostic technology, onsite paramedics, powerful predictive analytics, and a per-member-per-month fee-based model, The Working Clinic improves employee health, convenience, and radically reduces primary care costs producing ROIs up to 70%.
OUR CHALLENGE
As healthcare costs spiral out of control with no end in sight, traditional healthcare models are falling short of providing employers with the innovative solutions they need to maintain a healthy and productive workforce. National physician shortages, restrictive network partnering arrangements, and long wait times are driving employees to increasingly seek high-cost urgent care services. Worse yet, many employees are delaying or foregoing care until chronic conditions escalate to the point where emergency intervention is required. The costs and the negative impact on care coordination and patient outcomes are difficult to overstate. Employers are often left with the choice of reducing benefits or dramatically increasing out-of-pocket expenses and deductibles, further exacerbating the problem.
Insurance plans are incentivized to minimize payment of claims, the reimbursement fee-for-service payment model incentivizes physicians to conduct transactional, defensive medicine characterized by over prescription of medication and diagnostic tests, and the tendency treat to the billing codes the plan will cover rather than taking a wholistic approach to patient health. While providers genuinely want to care for their patients as effectively as possible, the economic incentives and effects are often misaligned with that purpose. In any case, the incentives are not focused on the needs of patient, or the employer’s need for a healthy, productive workforce.
The only reliably predictable trait of traditional healthcare delivery models available to employers is that the cost will increase year-over-year, with little or no evidence of improved employee population health and no quantifiable benefit to productive capacity. Employers are expected to keep throwing more and more good money after bad, with nothing to show for it. This puts employers in the unenviable position to shift more and more of the burden of healthcare costs to the employee; a losing proposition in a tight labor market where employers are trying to create cultures worthy of their employees’ loyalty.

COMPANY HISTORY
Use the menu below to learn about how Visio Health & Technical Solutions, Inc. came to be, and how The Working Clinic was developed.
In 2005, Visio CEO Lorelee Byrd founded a drug and alcohol testing company called Midlands Testing Services. As the business grew, it became incorporated (2007). What began as a small part-time venture soon grew into a full blown niche business.
Niche? There's really nothing 'niche' about drug & alcohol testing - nearly any hospital or clinic in the country provides these services. However, Midlands Testing Services, Inc. (MTS) comes on-site to their clients any time of the day or night, 365 days a year, providing a very dynamic service model.
This type of service model served as a catalyst for company growth and the company has been steadily increasing it's customer base each and every year. Today, MTS services the largest railroads all across the United States. Hundreds of tests are completed for clients each and every day in remote rail locations.
